German Sauerkraut
German Sauerkraut is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 lb. kraut (use either fresh or canned), 1/2 c. crisco, 1 large granny smith apple, chopped or sliced fine, 1 medium to large onion, sliced paper-thin and 1/2 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Put all ingredients into a large pot with tight-fitting cover. Bring to boil and simmer 2 1/2 hours.
It does not have to boil, but should not come out of the cooking stage.
