German Chocolate Cake
German Chocolate Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 oz. sweet chocolate, 1/2 c. water, 2 c. flour, 1 tsp. baking soda and 1 tsp. vanilla, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Melt chocolate with water until melted; set aside.
Sift together flour, salt and baking soda; set aside.
Beat butter until light and fluffy.
Add egg yolks one at a time.
Beat well after each until smooth.
Stir in chocolate and vanilla.
Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk beating until smooth. Beat egg whites in separate bowl until stiff peaks form.
Fold into batter.
Pour into 3 (9-inch) greased and floured cake pans lined with wax papper.
Bake at 350Β° for 30 minutes.
Cool 15 minutes.
Remove to cake rack.
Fill with Coconut-Pecan Filling. Frost sides and edge with Chocolate Butter Cream.
