Dried Apple Stackcake
Dried Apple Stackcake is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 c. butter, 1 c. granulated sugar, 1/2 c. brown sugar, 4 eggs, well beaten and 1 1/2 c. molasses, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Cream butter and sugar.
Add eggs, beating well.
Beat in molasses.
Add soda to buttermilk; stir well.
Sift dry ingredients together.
Add to creamed mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Mix well.
Pour batter in round pans that have been greased and floured, using 1 cup batter to each pan.
(This amount of batter will make 8 layers in 8-inch pans and 6 layers for 9-inch pans.) Batter will keep well if covered with waxed paper until all the layers are baked.
Bake for about 20 minutes at 375Β°.
Cool on rack before removing from the pans.
