Spread almonds in separate shallow pans.
Place in a slow oven (300°) until nuts are delicate brown.
Watch carefully.
Melt butter over low heat in a 2-quart heavy saucepan.
Add sugar, corn syrup and water.
Cook, stirring occasionally, to hard crack stage (300°).
Quickly stir in warmed, toasted coarsely chopped almonds. Spread in an ungreased 9 x 13-inch pan.
Cool thoroughly.
Spread with melted chocolate chips and top with fine chopped nuts.
Break in pieces.
