Buttery rolled sugar cookies firm enough to hold cookie-cutter shapes through baking. The base recipe behind every iced holiday tray and decorating party.

Mix sugar and butter until creamy, add slightly beaten eggs. Add just a little flour and mix before adding the soda and coffee. Add rest of flour and mix well.
Chill a few hours or overnight before rolling out or roll into rolls or squares and freeze.
