Place spinach in saucepan with 1/2 cup boiling water.
Return to a boil, cover.

Drain but do not press all liquid out. Put spinach, onion, salt, pepper, cream cheese, basil and egg in blender or processor until just blended.
Pour into buttered 1-quart casserole.
Bake at 325Β° for 30 minutes or until knife in center comes out clean.
