Beat the sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla at high speed for about 3 minutes. Add flour and milk alternately at low speed. Bake at 350Β° for 30 to 35 minutes or until done.
This is good baked in a large iron skillet. The recipe can be cut in half. When you get ready to serve, use the sauce when you cut into wedges.
