Cornmeal Rolls
Cornmeal Rolls is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3/4 c. milk, 1 tsp. salt, 3/4 c. warm water, 1 egg and 4 to 4 1/2 c. self-rising flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Scald milk.
Add sugar, salt and Crisco.
When Crisco is melted, mixture is lukewarm.
Sprinkle yeast in 3/4 cup warm water. Add egg to mixture.
Add cornmeal and mix well.
Add flour to make a soft dough.
Turn out on floured board, adding flour and kneading until can hold dough in palm of hand.
Put in bowl. Cover until double in bulk.
Make into rolls and sprinkle with cornmeal.
Makes 24 rolls.
