Chocolate Cream Pie
Chocolate Cream Pie is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/2 c. sugar, 1/3 c. cornstarch, 1/2 tsp. salt, 3 c. milk and 3 egg yolks, slightly beaten, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Mix sugar, cornstarch, cocoa and salt together in saucepan. Gradually stir in milk.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickens and boils.
Boil 1 minute.
Remove from heat.
Gradually stir at least half of hot mixture into egg yolks. Then blend into hot mixture in saucepan.
Boil 1 minute more, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat.
Blend in butter and vanilla.
Pour immediately into 9-inch cooked pie shell.
Serve with sweetened whipped cream.
Whip the whipping cream and powdered sugar together until fluffy and stiff.
Dot over pie when it is cool.
