Chocolate Chip Bars
Chocolate Chip Bars is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. butter (room temperature), 1/2 c. granulated sugar, 1 c. brown sugar, divided, 1 tbsp. water and 1 tsp. vanilla, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Cream together butter, granulated sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add water, vanilla and egg yolks (reserve whites in a separate bowl).
Beat for 2 to 3 minutes. Beat in flour, salt, baking soda and powder.
Spread batter onto lightly greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan or jelly roll pan. Sprinkle on chocolate chips.
Beat egg whites until they form soft peaks, then add reserved brown sugar, blending well.
Carefully spread over chips.
Sprinkle with nuts.
Bake at 350Β° for 35 minutes or until whites are brown.
Cut with sharp knife while still hot.
Yields 3 dozen bars.
