Buttermilk Chocolate Cake
Buttermilk Chocolate Cake is an impressive dessert you can prepare in about 1 hour 34 minutes. Made with c. boiling water, sq. unsweetened chocolate, c. shortening, softened or melted, c. buttermilk and eggs, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Put chocolate in boiling water; stir until melted.
Cool.
Sift together flour, sugar, salt, soda and baking powder.
Add shortening, buttermilk, cooled chocolate and vanilla to dry ingredients.
Beat vigorously for 2 minutes by hand or on medium speed with electric mixer.
Add unbeaten eggs and continue beating for 2 minutes longer.
Pour into greased and floured or paper-lined 9-inch round cake pans and bake in a 350Β° oven for about 30 minutes.
Cool slightly and remove from pans.
Frost with favorite white frosting or white between layers and chocolate over top and sides.
