Buttermilk Cake
Buttermilk Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. sugar, 3/4 c. shortening, 3 eggs, 2 c. flour and 1 tsp. baking powder, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Cream together sugar and shortening.
Beat eggs in one at a time.
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and soda.
Blend into creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk (flour in 4 parts, milk 3) and vanilla and lemon extract.
Bake in greased and floured tube pan at 350Β° for 1 hour.
This cake is much better, more moist and lasts indefinitely if you keep it covered.
When you remove from pan, put on cake plate, wrap immediately in foil while hot.
