Cream together shortening, butter and brown sugar.
Add eggs, one at a time; beat well after each addition.
Sift and measure flour, then sift again with baking powder and salt.
Add alternately to creamed mixture, the dry ingredients and evaporated milk.
Add maple flavoring and vanilla; mix well.
Bake at 300Β° in greased and floured tube pan for 1 1/2 hours or until straw inserted comes out clean.
