Brown Sugar Pound Cake

Cream shortening; add brown and white sugars and cream again. Stir in well beaten egg yolks. Sift flour with baking powder; add alternately with milk. Add nuts and vanilla. Fold in well beaten egg whites. Bake in greased and floured tube pan. Bake 1 1/2 hours at 325Β°. Frost the top with powdered sugar icing, allowing it to drip down the sides. Fix nut halves and bits of candied fruits on top.
Slice thinly to serve.
