Bread and Butter Pickles
Bread And Butter Pickles is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 6 lb. cucumbers, sliced, 1 1/2 c. small onions, sliced, 2 large cloves garlic, 1/2 c. kosher salt and ice cubes, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Wash, drain and slice cucumbers and onions. Add garlic and salt.
Mix well.
Cover with ice cubes and let stand 3 hours. Drain well.
Remove garlic. Combine remaining ingredients in a large saucepan.
Heat to boiling.
Add cucumbers and heat for 5 minutes.
Pack loosely in hot canning jars.
Process for 5 minutes in hot water bath.
Makes 4 quarts.
