Blitz Kuchen Cake
Blitz Kuchen Cake is an impressive dessert you can prepare in about 1 hour 26 minutes. Made with c. shortening, c. brown sugar, eggs + 2 egg yolks, c. sour milk and c. flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Combine shortening and brown sugar.
Beat in eggs and yolks. Sift together flour, cloves, cinnamon, soda, baking powder and salt.
Add to creamed mixture alternately with sour milk.
Mix well.
Grease and line with wax paper a large tube pan.
Pour in batter.
Spread with mixture made with 2 egg whites and 1 cup brown sugar and beat until stiff, then sprinkle top with nuts. Bake at 350Β° for 45 minutes.
Have oven shelf below center so topping on cake will not brown too much or nuts scorch.
