Blackberry Pie
Blackberry Pie is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 qt. blackberries, 1 stick margarine, 1 3/4 c. sugar, 3 c. self-rising flour and 1/2 c. crisco, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Mix first 3 ingredients and bring to a boil in a deep dish pie pan.
Work Crisco into the flour as if making biscuits.
Then work in the iced water, making a dough for dumplings and crust.
Flour the board and roll the dough out with rolling pin.
Roll thin, then cut in 1-inch strips all across the board.
Have the berries boiling and drop dumplings all across the pan, dipping the juice over the dumplings and making sure to cover good.
Then roll a top crust while berries are still boiling.
Place cover on pie.
Cover the top with butter and then sugar.
Place in oven and brown the top, being careful to not let burn.
