Beef Stroganoff
Beef Stroganoff is an impressive dinner you can prepare in about 1 hour 26 minutes. Made with (3 lb.) round steak (1/2-inch thick), c. all-purpose flour, c. butter or margarine, large onion, thinly sliced and (10 1/2 oz.) can consomme (undiluted), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Partially freeze steak, then slice across grain into 2 x 1/4-inch strips.
Dredge steak in flour.
Melt butter in a large skillet.
Add meat and onion; cook until meat is browned.
Stir in consomme, soup, mushrooms, salt and pepper.
Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer for 30 to 45 minutes, or until meat is tender. Stir in sour cream; cook just until thoroughly heated.
Serve over noodles.
Yields 8 servings.
