Aunt Pearl's Blackberry Jam Cake
Aunt Pearl'S Blackberry Jam Cake is an impressive dessert you can prepare in about 2 hours 6 minutes. Sift together flour, cloves, allspice and cinnamon.
Add apples, dates and nuts.
Stir, coating fruit with flour mixture. Set aside.
Blend butter and sugar until creamy.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.
Set aside.
Dissolve baking powder in milk. Dissolve soda in buttermilk.
Add flour mixture, milk, buttermilk and jam alternately to egg mixture.
Beat two minutes.
Pour batter into 4 greased and floured 8 or 9-inch cake pans.
Bake at 325Β° for 35 to 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
Cool and ice with date frosting.
