Aunt Nellie's Applesauce Cake
Aunt Nellie'S Applesauce Cake is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 pt. watermelon preserves, 1 pkg. citron fruits, 1 bottle maraschino cherries, 1/2 c. raisins and 3/4 c. currants, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Use "dead ripe" persimmons and put through a strainer.
Sift together all dry ingredients; stir in remaining ingredients. Place in dessert mold and cover with greased or waxed paper and then in kettle with sufficient water, cover tightly and steam for 1 to 3 hours.
(Or place pudding in top pan of double boiler, cover with aluminum foil, then the lid and steam for 1 1/2 hours.)
