Select 6 ears corn just beyond the "milk stage."
Cut off cob and remove all juice from cob; as you would for cream-style corn. Should have about 2 1/2 cups.
Sift flour, salt, baking powder and sugar together over the raw corn; mix thoroughly.
Stir in egg alternately with melted shortening.
No liquid is necessary.
Bake in shallow pan 30 to 35 minutes at 425Β°.
Serve hot with butter. Serves 6.
