Applesauce Chocolate Chip Cake
Applesauce Chocolate Chip Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. shortening, 1 1/2 c. sugar, 2 tbsp. cocoa, 2 eggs, well beaten and 1 c. applesauce, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
In large mixing bowl, cream shortening with the 1 1/2 cups sugar until fluffy.
Add cocoa and beaten eggs.
Blend well.
Add applesauce.
Sift in dry ingredients until well blended.
Pour batter into greased and lightly floured 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Sprinkle with the 2 tablespoons sugar and chocolate chips.
Bake at 350Β° for 35 to 40 minutes, or until cake tests done.
No frosting is needed.
Delicious with vanilla ice cream.
