Angel Thumbprint Cookies

Beat margarine, sugar, egg yolks, shortening, salt and flavorings together until fluffy.
Add sifted flour and mix well. Using a level tablespoon for measuring size, roll dough between palms and hands until ball is 1 inch in diameter.
Dip the balls into unbeaten egg whites and roll in chopped pecans.
Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet, using thumb to make depression in center of each ball and fill with jam or jelly. Bake at 325Β° for 20 to 25 minutes.
