Vanilla Sauce
Vanilla Sauce is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/3 c. sugar, 3 tbsp. cornstarch, 1/4 tsp. salt, 2 1/2 c. milk and 1 tsp. vanilla, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt in top of double boiler. Add a little milk and blend until smooth.
Add rest of milk and cook over direct heat, stirring constantly, until sauce boils and thickens.
Then place over boiling water; cover and cook 15 minutes with occasional stirring.
Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla.
Serve warm or cold as pudding sauce.
Makes about 2 1/2 cups.
(I use over yellow cake.)
