Vanilla Cream Pie

In a saucepan, add sugar, cornstarch, salt and milk.
Blend together and gradually add to sugar mixture the eggs, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils.
Boil and stir 1 minute; remove from heat.
Blend in butter and vanilla.
Immediately pour into baked pie shell.
Press plastic wrap onto filling.
Chill pie thoroughly or at least 2 hours.
Serve pie with sweetened whipped cream.
