Thick French Toast
Thick French Toast is an easy dinner. Made with 3/4 c. whole milk, 3 eggs (can use egg substitute), 1 tbsp. sugar, 1 tsp. salt and 4 slices bakery white bread (3/4 to 1-inch thick), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
In a small bowl, beat eggs (or substitute), milk, sugar and salt until smooth and blended.
Arrange the bread in a single layer in a 9-inch square baking dish.
Pour the egg mixture over the bread, turning each slice to coat evenly.
Cover and refrigerate the dish with the bread and egg mixture overnight. (This overnight refrigeration step is extremely important for success because it gives all the good bacteria time to work.)
The next morning, saute the bread in a skillet until it is golden brown.
This takes about 2 minutes per side.
