Sweet Pickles
Sweet Pickles is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 75 burpless cucumbers 6-inches long, 1 pt. plain salt, 3 tsp. alum, 5 pt. vinegar and 6 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Place cucumbers or glass
Cover with boiling water.
Stand 24 hours.
Off water.
Cut cucumbers in desired pieces.
Add alum and cover with boiling water.
Stand 24 hours.
Rinse in clear water; drain off. Boil vinegar, sugar (6 cups) and spices tied up in cheesecloth and pour over cucumbers.
Mornings, adding 1 cup of sugar each morning, boil 3 mornings without adding any sugar. Last, can in sterilized jars and lids.
