Sweet and Sour Pork
Sweet And Sour Pork is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/2 to 2 lb. boneless pork, cut into bite sized chunks, 1 to 2 tbsp. shortening, 1 can pineapple, drained, reserve juice, 3/4 c. water and 1/4 c. vinegar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Brown pork in shortening and drain.
Combine pineapple juice, water, vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar and salt.
Pour over meat and simmer 1 hour.
Combine cornstarch and 2 tablespoons water. Add to meat and cook until thickened.
Add pineapple chunks, onion and green pepper.
Cook, covered, 10 to 15 minutes.
Serve over rice.
