State Senate Bean Soup
State Senate Bean Soup is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 pkg. great northern beans, 3 large onions, finely chopped, 1 small bay leaf, pinch of thyme and 1 clove garlic, chopped, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.
Wash and soak beans overnight.
Add onions, garlic, parsley, thyme, bay leaf and ham bone.
Cover.
Cook slowly until tender. Remove ham bone, meat and bay leaf.
Remove 2 cups beans with a little liquid.
PurΓ©e and return to pot with 1 cup water.
Cut ham into small pieces and return to soup pot.
Serve hot with corn bread.
