Spicy Applesauce Cake
Spicy Applesauce Cake is an impressive dinner. Made with 1/4 c. shortening, 1/2 c. granulated sugar, 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed, 1 egg and 3/4 c. unsweetened applesauce, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Cream together shortening and sugar.
Blend in egg and applesauce.
Sift together flour, salt, cloves, cinnamon, allspice and baking powder.
Add alternately with the baking soda which has been dissolved in the hot water to the applesauce mixture.
Pour into greased and floured 8-inch square baking pan.
Bake at 350Β° for 35 to 45 minutes, until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
