Skillet Corn Bread
Skillet Corn Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 c. self-rising corn meal, 1 c. buttermilk, 4 tbsp. bacon drippings, 1 tsp. baking powder and 1 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Mix all parts together; batter should be medium thick, no lumps.
If mixture is too thick, add cold water.
Grease a large cast-iron skillet; place in a 400Β° oven until smoke appears. Remove skillet; wait 5 minutes.
Pour mixture into hot skillet; place in oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Bread should be served hot with sweet butter.
Left over cornbread should be saved for later use in cornbread stuffing.
If Pastor does not give you a double Amen for this bread, you have done something wrong. Amen.
