Sauerkraut
Sauerkraut is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 (32 oz.) jar vlasic sauerkraut, 1 large onion, 2 tbsp. vegetable oil, 3 1/2 c. water and 1/2 lb. smoked sausage or 80% fat-free ham, diced, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.
Pour sauerkraut, juice included, into a 3-quart saucepan and bring to a boil.
Add enough water to cover kraut and bring to a simmer.
Add sausage or ham while it is cooking.
Heat vegetable oil in skillet.
Add sliced onion.
Stir frequently, cooking slowly until onion is tender.
Add flour to onion.
Stir briskly until flour is thick.
Add 1 1/2 cups water and stir rapidly with whisk. Stir and cook for 2 minutes; add flour and onion to sauerkraut. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
Remove from heat.
