Mix and sift flour, nutmeg, soda, salt and baking powder. Cut in sugar and shortening.
Add currants, then add eggs and milk.
Roll out as pie dough and cut with round cookie cutter. Bake in an electric frypan, the same as pancakes, for about 3 minutes on each side, or until lightly browned.
Sprinkle with sugar while still warm.
