Red Velvet Cake
Red Velvet Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 oz. red food coloring, 1-1/2 c. sugar, 1 c. buttermilk, 2-1/4 c. cake flour and scant tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.

Preheat oven to 350°.
Mix food coloring with cocoa and set aside.
Cream shortening with sugar.
Add eggs and coloring mixture and beat until very creamy.
Mix flour with salt. Alternately mix buttermilk and flour mixture and vanilla.
Remove from mixer.
Add vinegar and baking soda.
Bake in 2 layer pans at 350° for 30-35 minutes.
Cool and frost with Seven Minute Frosting or frosting of your choice.
