Red-Eye Gravy
Red-Eye Gravy is an easy dinner. Made with 1 ham steak (1 lb.; 1-inch thick), 2 tbsp. brown sugar, 1/4 tsp. cinnamon, 1/8 tsp. ground cloves and 2 tbsp. instant coffee or 1 c. boiled coffee, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Cook steak tender in 2 tablespoons drippings.
Mix the ingredients and rub on each side of the uncooked steak.
Add ham to skillet with 2 tablespoons of drippings; cook until brown, about 2 minutes each side.
Transfer to platter and keep warm. Add you 1 cup coffee to skillet and cook until syrupy, about 5 minutes.
