Raised Donuts
Raised Donuts is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 pkg. yeast, 1/8 c. warm water, 1 c. milk, 1/4 c. shortening and 1/2 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Heat milk.
Put shortening, sugar and salt in large mixing bowl.
Add milk and cool to lukewarm.
Dissolve yeast in water. Add egg yolks, vanilla and yeast to milk mixture.
Stir in mashed potatoes and most of flour to form soft moist dough; knead well. Let rise until double (about 1/2 hour).
When raised, roll out 1/2-inch thick and cut donuts.
Let raise 1/2 hour.
Fry in deep fat at 350Β° until done.
Glaze while hot with 1 pound confectioners sugar, 2 tablespoons flour and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla and enough hot water to make a thin paste.
Let cool.
