Heat oven to 325° and grease pans.
In a large bowl, combine pumpkin, sugar, butter, water and eggs.
Beat 1 minute at medium speed.
Mix together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and cloves.
Add to first mixture and beat 1 minute at medium speed.
Stir in dates or raisins and nuts.
Pour in pans (2 loaf size) and bake at 325° for 50 to 60 minutes.
