Pound Cake
Pound Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. shortening, 3 c. sugar, 3 c. plain flour, 1/4 tsp. salt and 1 tsp. lemon flavoring, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Cream shortening and butter; gradually add sugar.
Beat at medium speed until well blended and fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
Stir in the flavorings.
Pour batter into a greased and floured 10-inch tube or Bundt pan.
Bake at 350Β° for 1 hour, or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool in pan for 10 minutes; remove from pan.
Cool completely on a rack.
