Butter 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
Arrange 1/2 of potatoes on bottom and salt and pepper; sprinkle half of the corn and half of the chilies over potatoes.
Dot with butter; repeat layer.
Pour buttermilk over it all.
Bake at 350Β° for about 1 hour (until potatoes are done).
Remove from oven and top with green onion and cheese; return to oven for about 10 minutes or until cheese melts.
