Melt 1/2 stick butter in frying pan.

Salt and pepper pork chops.

Brown pork chops in pan until braised on both sides but not until done.

Remove from frypan and put aside.

Melt rest of butter in frypan.

Add rice and brown.

Add consomme, onion soup and mushrooms.

Bring to a slight boil.

Pour into a 2 to 3-quart casserole dish.

Top with pork chops.

Cover with foil and bake at 350Β° for 1 hour.
