Popcorn Balls is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 6 qt. (3 poppers full) popped corn, 1 c. karo (white for chocolate balls, dark for vanilla balls), 1 1/2 c. sugar, 1/2 c. water and 4 tsp. vinegar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Keep popped corn warm in oven.

Mix sugar and cream of tartar in 2-quart saucepan.

Add and mix until dissolved Karo, water, vinegar and chocolate if desired.

Bring to boil and boil without stirring until reaching hard ball stage (drop of mixture makes hard ball that remains solid when picked up with fingers when a drop is placed in cup of cold water).

Remove from heat and get popcorn out of oven.

Stir in soda.

Mixture will foam.

Add vanilla if chocolate omitted.

Pour over hot popcorn and mix thoroughly with greased wooden spoons.

Grease fingers and pat lightly into balls when thoroughly mixed.
