Poor Man's Cheese Soufflé
Poor Man'S Cheese Soufflé is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 lb. sharp cheddar cheese, grated, 2 c. milk, 3 eggs, approximately 1 loaf white bread without crust and salt and pepper, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Butter both sides of bread.
Put in Pyrex dish.
Layer with 1/2 of cheese.
Put another layer of bread, then rest of cheese.
Beat eggs and milk together with seasonings.
Pour over, cover and refrigerate overnight.
(Push bread down with spoon if it floats.) Bake at 300° for 45 minutes (take off foil for last 15 minutes).
