Poached Apples

Bring water, sugar and nutmeg to boil in a large deep skillet. Boil 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly reduced in volume.
Add rum and apples.
Cover and simmer over low heat, 10 to 15 minutes, gently stirring 2 or 3 times until apples are tender.
Remove from heat and stir in raisins.
Serves 4.
