Peanut Gingerbread with Lemon Sauce
Peanut Gingerbread With Lemon Sauce is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. shortening, 1/2 c. sugar (white or brown), 1 egg, 3/4 c. molasses and 2 c. flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Cream shortening; add sugar, and molasses.
Sift flour; measure.
Add baking powder, soda, ginger, cinnamon and salt. Sift together again.
Combine ingredients. Add milk in gradually as you combine shortening and flour mixtures, mixing well. Add peanuts last, reserving two tablespoons to sprinkle over top.
Bake for 20 minutes in a 350° to 375° oven.
Serve warm favorite sauce.
