Pasta Sauce
Pasta Sauce is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 (16 oz.) cans tomato juice, 2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste, 4 cloves garlic (fresh), large white onion and 1 1/2 c. mushrooms, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Combine paste and sauce in large saucepan or Dutch oven.
Add salt and pepper.
Slice and dice garlic, onion and mushrooms. Saute garlic in butter until golden brown; mix with sauce/paste. Heat until it bubbles.
Saute onions in butter until limp; add to pot and stir.
Saute mushrooms until limp; add to pot and stir.
Reduce to simmer.
Simmer for 3 hours, stirring every 15 to 20 minutes.
After 2 1/2 hours, add sugar and blend.
Stir well. Sugar will blend flavors and kill the acid.
