Onion Cheese Bread
Onion Cheese Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. chopped onion, 5 tbsp. margarine, 2 c. flour, 3 tsp. baking powder and 1/2 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Saute onions in margarine or butter until soft.
Combine flour, baking powder and salt in large bowl.
Cut in 5 tablespoons margarine.
Mix egg and milk together and add to dry ingredients. Stir until just moistened.
Add onions and 1/2 cup of the cheese. Spread batter in greased 8 or 9-inch pans.
Combine remaining cheese with poppy or celery seed.
Sprinkle over top of batter in pans.
Drizzle melted butter on top and bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 375Β°.
Serve hot.
This is excellent served with chili.
