Onion Casserole
Onion Casserole is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 medium onions, cut in 1/2-inch rings, 1 1/2 c. cubed american cheese, 4 slices buttered toast, cut in 1/2-inch cubes, 1/4 c. oleo and 2 c. milk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Cook onions in boiling salted water until tender.
Stir occasionally to separate into rings.
Drain well.
Place 1/2 of onions into 2-quart casserole.
Add 1/2 of the cheese and 1/2 of the toast.
Melt butter and blend in flour.
Stir milk.
Cook until thick.
Add salt, pepper and hot mixture to beaten eggs, a little at a time, until blended.
Add another layer of onions, cheese and toast.
Pour sauce over top.
Lift to let sauce get down through. Bake at 350Β° for 30 minutes.
