Put butter and milk in saucepan on low heat until butter is melted; set aside.
Beat eggs, gradually adding sugar until fluffy.
Continue to beat, adding flour and vanilla.
When well mixed, add milk and butter mixture.
Then, with beater at low, add baking powder.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350Β°.
Makes 2 (9-inch) layers.
Good with orange or coconut icing.
