Old Fashioned Stack Cake
Old Fashioned Stack Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. brown sugar, packed, 1 c. shortening, 1 c. molasses, 1 c. buttermilk and 2 eggs, beaten, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Combine sugar, shortening and molasses.
Beat until smooth. Add buttermilk, eggs, soda, ginger and salt.
Beat until blended (do not overbeat).
Fold in flour.
Pat into a 10-inch circle.
Put on a cookie sheet.
Bake at 350Β° for 5 to 7 minutes.
Remove and cool.
Repeat with another 10-inch circle, etc. until batter is used up.
Spread applesauce or dried apples between layers.
