Old-Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies
Old-Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 c. raisins, 1 c. water, 3/4 c. shortening, 1 1/2 c. sugar and 2 eggs, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

Simmer raisins in water in saucepan over low heat until raisins are plump, 20 to 30 minutes. Drain liquid and add water to measure 1/2 cup.
Preheat oven to 400°.
Have ungreased cookie sheets ready.
Cream the shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir in raisin liquid.
Sift together dry ingredients and add to moist ingredients.
Mix well. Add oats, nuts and raisins.
Drop by teaspoonful 2-inches apart on cookie sheets. Bake at 400° for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
Makes 6 to 7 dozen.
